How is Regional identity represented through mis en scene and editing in the clip of Doc Martin?
During the first scene outfits are a key indicator to where each character could be from. Martin the man who walks into the room is wearing a suit. This represents the stereotypical southerner as he is looking smart and professional. However the man sitting down on the right is wearing a beanie and overalls, this means he has a manual job which tends to be for the working/middle class, resulting in him being from a less posh area. The regional identity in this extract is when the man walks in, it shows the differences between the two obviously not alike men.
The editing throughout the clips is continuity editing and flows each clips nicely without the audience noticing. The clip at the beginning shows the man sitting down eating closely as it can exaggerate how he is eating. One occasion he spits a tiny bit of food out which can make him look not well mannered and uneducated. The cut scenes are also quite short and shows each character when they are talking, this is to show each character's opinions and differences.
